Welcome to Day One of the Holiday Home Tour hosted by Jenny at Evolution of Style and Amy and Christy at 11 Magnolia Lane! Today is all about decorating outdoor spaces for the Christmas season and I’m so happy to join a few other amazing bloggers to share some simple ways to make your home festive this year.

Be sure to check out all the tours at the end of this post! If you’re coming here from Cindy Hattersley Design, wasn’t her California Christmas tour just stunning?!

Here on the other coast, I’m happy to welcome you to our Massachusetts abode!

Over the past couple of years we tackled a lot of necessary exterior work including having a new deck built, driveway replaced, house re-sided and painted, new roof installed, original bluestone path reset, granite steps installed and my very favorite, adding a new front door and lights! This is the perfect time of year for their debut!

Christmas Front Door

I like to decorate with a lot of simple, fresh greens at Christmastime. In my urns this year I used potted juniper plants and added cedar and pine cuttings and icy branches from Home Depot. So easy!

If you come to my door my furry sidekick will be the first one to enthusiastically greet you. She loves visitors!!

When I put Kaia’s Christmas bandana on her, I was inspired to add a touch of red to my urns for a little pop.  Ilex berries from the grocery store were the perfect addition. Cedar and pine garlands were hung on nails and fastened with zip ties at the top and on the side trim down next to the steps.

The lanterns hold all-weather ornaments and glitter pinecones I made with my kids at least a decade ago – they store really well in plastic zip loc bags. Here’s the easy tutorial on how to make glitter pinecones!

Christmas Fire Pit

As much as Kaia loves greeting friends at the front door, she absolutely adores when her kids and their friends are home from college and hanging around the fire pit!! Covid made us really appreciate our fire pit – we used it ALL the time last year and even hosted an open house for our family out here on Christmas Day. This year we are looking forward to bundling up and using it all winter long again!

Twinkling lights, cozy blankets and pillows, warm beverages and a roaring fire make this space inviting even in the cold weather!

White lights make the winter version of our ornamental grasses and shrubs look magical!

I found all my Christmasy and cozy pillows and throws for the fire pit at Homegoods.

Simple touches can make this season feel extra special. I can’t wait to have my family home for Christmas and enjoying this outdoor space!

Next on the Holiday Home Tour, head over to Rhoda at Southern Hospitality! Rhoda always has beautiful inspiration!
